According to the folks at TorkLift, the # TLA7700L battery box would be considered water resistant, not waterproof, as all batteries need to be able to vent. The don't offer a battery box that's 100% waterproof for that reason. My TorkLift rep tells me that they've received feedback from customers that have used self-stick weatherstripping on the lid of the box to help seal it which works well to keep water away from the wiring connections at the terminal. I've talked to folks who have gone this route, and they have sealed the converter box seams and wire entry/exit points with silicone caulk, which seems to do the trick. The vehicle manufacturers tow rating is always going to be the final word as far as towing capacity goes. In some cases using a weight distribution system can raise the towing capacity of a given receiver hitch, but it will not be able to raise the capacity of the vehicle.
